We wish to confirm that Proform Systems Ltd where employed by ourselves on our fifty six million pound design and construct project for Sandwell College in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

Their involvement with the scheme commenced during the Second Stage procurement period wherein they were able to provide support to ourselves and the Employer in turning the design team’s conceptual design for the feature Atrium accommodation pods into a construction reality.

Subcontract works consisted of:-

  • the design and construction of two trespa clad Atrium feature pods – £280K
  • the design and installation of three feature desks – 20K
  • the design and installation of feature window surrounds -£47K
  • other specialist joinery works – £11K.

This package of work was all successfully completed in December 2011.

We have been very happy with the service, performance and commitment Proform Systems Ltd have provided to this project, in fact if it were not for their ‘can do’ attitude we would still be searching for a Subcontractor prepared to turn what many believed to be an unbuildable concept into an actual on site installation.

In addition the writer would confirm that ne has known both Directors of the Business, Davd Pactor and Andrew Marler since 2000 and they have undertaken a number of prestigious, high value installations, (Joinery, Cladding and Shop Front works) for my previous employers HBG Construction Ltd and Bluestone Ltd. Their works ave always been completed to a very high standard, within programme and budget.

In closing we confirm that we would have no hesitation in employing Proform  on our future projects.

Project Overview;

Sandwell College at West Bromwich. This is a  brand new £56m multi-storey facility of some 25,300 square meters and will accommodate 10,000 full and part-time students. The college includes an automotive centre, beauty and hairdressing department, computer labs, construction workshops, engineering labs, fashion and photography studios, a sports hall and theatre. The building’s striking modern design creates a real sense of excitement and visual drama for the local landscape. The Main Contractor chosen to undertake the contract work was Interserve and they in turn placed an order with Proform Systems for the sum of £358,000 to carry out the design, supply and installation of two free standing futuristic pods in the main entrance / atrium area.  Both Pods whilst creating an interesting esthetically pleasing architectural feature perform two distinct roles. One contains an administrative suite and the other a beauty and hairdressing salon. The Pods are constructed from an internal metal framework complete with insulation and clad with various layers of plywood and plasterboard. The external walls and fins are finished using trespa cladding panels cut and scribed to shape. Please see below a pictorial slide show of the work we carried out.
